Vegan Chocolate Dip Donuts

Vegan Baked Chocolate Dip Donuts

This is a recipe you donut want to wait long to make.

Sorry for the pun but I couldn’t help myself. I’ll try to steer clear of any more.

Chocolate Dip donuts are my absolute favourite.

Like many Canadian children and adults alike, I have many memories of stopping at Tim Hortons to break up long road trips.

It’s actually how I would remember land marks, I knew that when we passed the antique barn we weren’t far from Tim Hortons, which meant it wasn’t long until I got my Chocolate Dip Donut.

I actually still remember journey’s mainly by food land marks. Don’t ask me about distance or street names, if you want me to tell you how to get somewhere you better be ready to look out for grocery stores, coffee shops and restaurants.

And you will probably get a few tips on what to pick-up from the places you pass as well.

But enough about my strange obsession with food.

I wanted to create a convincing healthy alternative that would still give me the satisfaction of your traditional chocolate dip.

These donuts did just that, bringing me right back to my childhood, chocolate covered hands and all.

The dough is  soft and light while the thin chocolate glaze balances out the sweetness.

So if you have been thinking about trying a new recipe. I’ve got your back.

Donut worry.

Donut Mixture
  1. Preheat your oven to 165 C. Grease your donut pan with coconut oil.
  2. In a small bowl combine the almond milk with the apple cider vinegar and mix together. Set aside
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk flour and baking powder until well combined. Set aside.

  5. Reduce the speed of your mixer and slowly pour in your flax eggs until fully incorporated. Add vanilla.
  6. Alternate adding the flour mixture and the almond milk to your wet ingredients. Ensuring each addition is fully incorporated.
  7. Put your donut mixture into a piping bag (or a plastic freezer bag could also work) and squeeze the mixture evenly into the donut moulds.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and place onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Chocolate Glaze
  1. Place the chocolate (broken into smaller pieces) into a microwave safe bowl with the coconut oil and stir to combine.
  2. Microwave for 20 seconds (time may vary depending on your microwave) and stir.
  3. Continue to microwave in 10 second intervals, stirring in-between, until the glaze is smooth and silky.
  4. Set aside to cool and thicken slightly before dipping donuts.

  1. Good article. Many people are7n#821&;t aware of dangers of sugar or don’t care about it simply because they are addicted to sugar. Coke, Pepsi and similar soft drinks are particularly unhealthy and dangerous. If you have to sweeten something, it’s better to use (organic) honey – at least it’s natural and contains some nutrients.
