There is no denying that it seems like a constant battle to find balance in everyday life.
When you are juggling a hectic schedule of work and family, fitting in time for yourself can seem impossible.
Here are some of my favourite beauty tips which make sure you are looking your best at all times.
Use Exfoliating Gloves in the Shower
Like most woman, using an exfoliator on your face is probably part of your skincare routine. It is just as important that we are doing the same for the rest of our body. Exfoliation is great for increasing circulation and will reveal smoother skin. Washing your body with a gentle exfoliating glove will help slough off dead skin cells and leave your skin glowing. Exfoliating your body allows your skin to absorb moisturiser better and fake tan will apply more evenly.
Use a Body Oil
Exactly what your body needs after exfoliating, applying a body oil to your skin while it is still slightly damp will allow it to penetrate faster. With oils being more pure than moisturisers they are easier for your skin to absorb and keep your skin hydrated for longer. Look for an oil where the main ingredient are oils and avoid anything that has alcohol as the first ingredient.
If you are interested in trying a body oil daily but can’t commit to the cost of some of them, try a natural baby oil. It is worth noting that a little bit goes a long way, so make sure to use these sparingly. I recommend applying while standing on a bath mat to reduce any slipping hazards.
Switch to a Silk Pillowcase
We know how much better we look and feel when we’ve had a good’s night rest but if you are using a cotton pillowcase it may be preventing you from looking your best. Silk absorbs less oil than cotton which means sleeping on a silk pillowcase will help keep your skin hydrated. It also produces less friction with your hair, so less breakage and less frizz.
Using a silk pillowcase will allow you to wake up with glossier hair and fresh, hydrated skin. You can also wear a satin line cap around the house after you have heat styled your hair to make your blow dries last longer.
Coconut oil is a budget friendly bathroom staple, there are so many different uses for it that you can read about here. It contains Vitamin E, Lauric Acid and Monolaurin which makes it a great alternative for mouth wash because it has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. By taking a tablespoon of coconut oil and swishing it around in your mouth for 10 minutes everyday you will remove bacteria and improve the health of your teeth and gums. Oil pulling can also help with boosting your immune system and improving acne.
Drink More Water
You’ve probably been told a million times to make sure you are drinking lots of water but it really is so important. By keeping your body hydrated you are boosting your metabolism, flushing out toxins, giving your body energy and slowing down the ageing process. To figure out how much water you should be drinking each day cut your body weight in half and that is how many ounces you should be drinking. If you struggle to drink water on its own, add some flavour with lemon, lime, cucumber or make this detox water.
